Manager Daily
''Manager Daily'' (Thai: ผู้จัดการรายวัน, ''Phuchatkan Rai Wan'') is a Thai-language daily newspaper published in Bangkok and distributed nationwide. The paper is a broadsheet, and emphasizes political and business news. Founded by media-mogul Sondhi Limthongkul, it was an outgrowth of ''Manager Monthly'' magazine and ''Manager Weekly'' newspaper. The newspaper is popular Thai news source on demonstration against the former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra; its owner is one of the leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy, or PAD. The newspaper declares its views and objectives are to support Constitutional Monarchy, to resist authoritarianism in politics and in the economy, and to promote restrictions on the power of government and of politicians.
The newspaper was founded in 1990. During the Black May incident in May 1992, Manager Daily and two other newspapers were threatened with being banned by the government of General Suchinda Kraprayoon for having printed pictures of the demonstration crackdown.〔http://www.oknation.net/blog/yong/2007/03/02/entry-1/comment〕
In 2000, Sondhi Limthongkul went bankrupt after being sued by a bank. In 2003, it was apparent that Sondhi supported Thaksin Shinawatra. Some critics suggested that this relation consequently helped Sondhi's Manager Group to revive.〔http://www.thaimisc.com/freewebboard/php/vreply.php?user=tuksin&topic=586〕
From 2003 to 2005, the newspaper was not critical of Thaksin. But from 2005 onwards, Sondhi's relationship with Thaksin foundered; since 2006, Sondhi, one of the leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), and Manager Daily have been leading the opposition against both Thaksin and his perceived supporters.
To date, Manager Daily is still the most severe critic of Thaksin Shinawatra and groups counted as his active supporters. It also criticizes any government that failed to tackle corruption and handle the case of border conflict
Recently, they began attacking the Thai-language Wikipedia because the article on Thailand lists the government type as Constitutional monarchy.〔http://www.manager.co.th/Politics/ViewNews.aspx?NewsID=9520000050649〕
Manager Daily also has an online edition, called ''Manager Online''.
